The first step in applying for financial aid is to file your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Your FAFSA must be received by the federal processing center by April 15th each year to be considered for state financial aid as well as federal financial aid. USI's Federal School Code is 001808. You will need an FSA ID to electronically sign your FASFA. If you do not have an FSA ID, you may create one at fsaid.ed.gov.

Once you are admitted to the program and we receive your FAFSA, you can see the financial aid you qualify for and accept or decline your Direct Student Loan on your myUSI. Admissions

The University of Southern Indiana's online MBA program has specific requirements that applicants must meet to enroll. Please read the admission guidelines to ensure you qualify.

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
Minimum 2.5 GPA in undergraduate coursework
GMAT or GRE waivers are available

Applicants must meet the following criteria for admission to USI's online MBA degree program:

  • Completed bachelor degree (minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5) from an institution accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) or a comparable association
  • Completed GMAT test with a minimum score of 500, or GRE with a minimum score of 300, or request a waiver if you meet one of these criteria:
    • An earned graduate degree
    • Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or above with 2 years of professional work experience
    • Undergraduate GPA of 2.5 or above with 3 years of professional work experience
    • Member of Beta Gamma Sigma
  • For international applicants whose native spoken language is not English, official scores for Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or IELTS exams must be submitted to the Graduate Studies Office along with application unless a bachelor's or higher degree from a United States institution of higher education has been obtained.
  • Submit the following documents via email to graduate.studies@usi.edu:
    • A professional resume
    • Names and contact information of three (3) professional references
  • Submit an official transcript sent from your previous institution(s). Transcripts must come directly from the institution from which the prior degree was obtained, rather than from the applicant. ACCT 601: Accounting for Decision Making and Control

Duration: 8 weeks   |   Credit Hours: 3

A study of management accounting and its use to aid in planning, controlling, and evaluating operations.

CIS 601: Information Systems and Technology

Duration: 8 weeks   |   Credit Hours: 3

This course explores alternative approaches to managing the resources (computers, networks, software, data and people) that organizations utilize in applying information technology (IT). It focuses on the role of the user-manager in identifying opportunities (and avoiding pitfalls), developing applications, and creatively using IT to improve personal and organizational performance.

ECON 601: Managerial Economics

Duration: 8 weeks   |   Credit Hours: 3

A study of economic concepts and tools useful to managers of business firms. Topics include optimization, demand, production and costs, market structure, pricing behavior, risk analysis, benefit cost analysis, estimation of economic relationships, and business cycles and forecasting.

FIN 601: Financial Management and Financial Markets

Duration: 8 weeks   |   Credit Hours: 3

A comprehensive coverage of financial theories and their application to provide the MBA student with a basic understanding and appreciation of corporate finance.

MKTG 601: Marketing Strategies

Duration: 8 weeks   |   Credit Hours: 3

Analysis and control of the key marketing variables to develop successful strategic marketing plans. Emphasis on the major components of marketing strategy; establishment of overall corporate objectives; analysis of strategic business units; identification of creative alternatives; and examination of company, target market and competitors. Views strategy formulation from the global and managerial perspectives. Examines significant marketing strategies and applies them to practical analysis of established marketing cases dealing with new and established product management, pricing, channels and promotional aspects.

MNGT 611: Leadership Skills and Innovation

Duration: 8 weeks   |   Credit Hours: 3

A highly interactive and experiential class focusing on the development of management and leadership skills. The class focuses on organizational behavior issues and on developing a student's professionalism in the following areas: oral, written, and interpersonal communication, group dynamics, team building, creative problem solving, information and communication technology, change management skills, and the roles of leaders in a dynamic work environment.

MNGT 681: Strategic and International Management

Duration: 8 weeks   |   Credit Hours: 3

Includes the development of an executive managerial perspective. The primary purposes of the course are to develop the ability to analyze complex corporate problems from a global perspective, and an awareness of the impact of changing business conditions and government policies on global organizations. Examines the globalization of industries and firm competitiveness. The format of the class involves the use of cases to assist students in the application of theory.

ACCT 602: Financial Statement Analysis

Duration: 8 weeks   |   Credit Hours: 3

Financial statements are used to monitor firm performance, set the basis for financial policies and objectives, and for valuation purposes. This course provides an in-depth review and analysis of the major financial statements, disclosure statements and financial reporting in general. Students in the course should gain the ability to analyze, interpret and act on financial statements to make business decisions.

ACCT 605: Seminar in Auditing

Duration: 8 weeks   |   Credit Hours: 3

An examination of current trends in auditing and analysis of major issues confronting the auditing profession. The focus of the course will be in internal audit procedures as well as internal control issues, control environments and activities, as well as risk assessments.

ACCT 628: Accounting Regulation & Compliance

Duration: 8 weeks   |   Credit Hours: 3

This course examines current regulation related to accounting and financial reporting as well as various professional organizations' compliance and ethical statements and standards. Specific emphasis is given to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the Dodd-Frank Act, AICPA Auditing Standard No. 99, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board PCAOB and its standards No. 3 & No. 5, as well as other current relevant legislation. The course will also investigate the role of professional organizations in setting ethical and professional standards. Other topics will include fraud, disclosure statements and corporate governance, as well as the role of corporate council.
