  • In which online program(s)/concentrations do you teach?

MBA – Strategic and International Management (MNGT 681)

  • What do you want students to take away from your classes?

I want students to take away an appreciation for global contextual differences and confidence in using the course material to make strategic decisions for their organizations and personal lives.

  • Why did you start teaching?

I enjoy learning and sharing knowledge. The world is a curious place, and it is more fun to explore it together.

  • What advice would you give to your future online students?

To stay motivated remind yourself why you are taking this course. To maximize your return on your investment put in the work needed to succeed in this course without taking shortcuts. To network and build relationships in the online course setting take advantage of engagement opportunities. But more importantly, think about what comes after this course is over. Dream big. Anything is possible.

  • What is the value of a higher degree in the field in which you teach?

A higher degree sets you apart from your competition. It also allows you to think more critically about the course material due to advanced work experience that you most likely did not have during your undergraduate degree. You can use course materials directly in your job, adding value to the organization. Continuing your education shows your employer your tenacity and drive to further your career.

  • What is the one book you think everyone should read?

While I can provide a long list of business books, motivational books, etc., that I would recommend reading, the book everyone should read is The Lord of the Rings trilogy. There are three main reasons for this choice. First, the writing style is fascinating. Second, for me, it is incomprehensible how someone can describe an imaginary world in such detail that it appears real and allows you to immerse yourself in it. Third, the books are fun to read and can take your mind off work while still stimulating your thoughts and sense for strategic decisions (maybe even without us realizing it).

  • What do you do when you need a laugh?

When I need a laugh, I watch funny commercials or meet with friends for coffee. Sometimes I go for a run to laugh about my lack of cardiovascular endurance.

  • Tell us something interesting about yourself that your students might not know.

My motto is “teaching, traveling, training” because I love my job, I travel the world, and I compete in strength sports. My favorite animal is the sloth. It makes me smile and calms me down.
