Program curriculum requires six non-nursing courses that may be transferred, or taken at USI. After you are accepted, your transcripts will be reviewed, and you will receive a plan of study that defines the requirements needed to complete the program.

No. Classes are 100 percent online, and you can complete orientation, registration and all other activities online.

No. There are assignment due dates, but these do not require you to be online on a specific day or at a specific time.

There are tests in some classes, and you may be required to have a proctor. You can arrange for a proctor where you live; see USI proctor guidelines. You do not need to go to a formal testing center. Tests are available over several hours or even days, so you do not have to change your work schedule.

Depending on the extent and timing of the delay, an updated application may be required. Your plan of study may change as some courses are not offered each term. Courses will remain the same, but the order may change.

Find your advisor’s contact information on your plan of study. If you are unsure of who your advisor is, please contact [email protected] to be directed to your assigned advisor, who will revise your plan of study. Some courses are not taught every term, so the order of your courses may change—but the required courses will stay the same.

The first step in applying for financial aid is to file your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Your FAFSA must be received by the federal processing center by April 15th each year to be considered for state financial aid as well as federal financial aid. The Federal School Code for USI is 001808. You will need an FSA ID to electronically sign your FASFA. If you do not have an FSA ID, you can create one at fsaid.ed.gov.

The Bursar’s Office has information on employer-paid tuition. Complete the nursing online form and submit it to the Bursar’s Office on time to delay tuition payment.

Yes, some classes require textbooks. Visit the USI Campus Store to find out which book(s) are required for each course. Books may be ordered online from the USI Campus Store or from another source.

You may be able to validate select classes with significant experience directly related to the course content or national nursing certification. Generally, at least three years of RN experience with a minimum two years in the specific area of practice is needed. National certification may be ANCC board certification or certification from a national nursing organization—e.g., CCRN certification. You will receive more information during your first course.
